The Strout Mystery - Are These Your Ancestors????

The following pictures were sent to me by Jan Bryan.  I offered to post them on my site so that any Strout cousins might be able to view them and perhaps identify those that Jan has not been able to identify.  The pictures are copyrighted to Jan Bryan, so please do not add them to your site unless you ask her.  Her email is   JCBryan@aol.com.  Also, if you know who some of the folks are, be sure and let her know.

Jan has a big job ahead of her because she is cataloging  a large amount of material for a collection called the "Nellie Strout Greene Collection" that will be a part of the Bradford Heritage:  Museum and Archives at the John B. Curtis Free Public Library in Bradford, ME.

Below the pictures is part of a note Jan sent to me explaining the pictures.  Enjoy this special treat and let Jan know if you recognize your great grandfather or great uncle, etc. (It make take a couple of minutes to load into your picture viewer, but its worth the wait.)

Group on Porch

Jan's Note:

Attached are two photos: Group Portrait:  Nellie's 1937 annotation was :     "Strout Bros. - sons of Alden," although I've found evidence of only four sons at most.  These young men all do look alike, however.  Could the others be cousins?  Reviewing  identified photos, I have made inserts showing a couple of the probable matches.  Group on Porch:  Nellie's 1937 annotation was "Alden Strout Farm at Bradford, Chas. Libby with beard & pipe, same group of men & dog as large picture."  This is the porch on Alden Strout's farmhouse; it can be identified from several other pictures.  Hannah Libby (Mrs. Alden) Strout had a brother named Charles, but this man looks more like her father's generation - perhaps he was a Charles, also.

For those who are interested, I hope to have the catalog, index, and images ready to donate to the "Bradford Heritage: Museum and Archives" by the end of the year.
